SCAM ALERT

Don't be tricked by a fraud game known as phishing.

Phishing (pronounced "fishing") is when a person or a group of cyber-criminals creates an imitation or copy of an existing legitimate Web page to trick users into providing sensitive personal information, such as credit or debit card numbers, account username and password, social security numbers or PIN numbers. This information is then sold to other criminals, who use it for financial gain. They do this by using a trusted brand of well-known banks, online retailers and credit card companies. The request will include upsetting or exciting statements so people will react immediately and respond with the desired information without thinking.

If you receive an email, text message, or telephone inquiry asking for your personal information, DO NOT RESPOND! Responding puts your accounts at risk.

United Bank will never make telephone inquiries or send text messages or emails to verify or update your confidential customer information.

Never give out the 3-digit security code on the back of your debit and credit cards, UNLESS you initiate a purchase whether by telephone or through the Internet using a secure site.

If you think you have been a victim of a scam, contact
us immediately at 1.800.EASY.UNB.
